My Birthday is coming up and I wanted to get something to surf the net on and stuff. The Dell mini is the perfect device for this. So my questions are: How much space is left on the 4GB drive after the Ubuntu is installed? Is it worth the extra $20 to get a outlet model with Win XP, 8GB SSD, 1GB ram and possibly a webcam?  |

Just my personal opinion but I would fork out the extra 20 bucks for the extra goodies! 4 extra G, windows (if thats what you prefer), an extra 512 of ram, and a webcam would definitely be worth it to me. You certainly wouldn't be able to get all that extra for 20 bucks. The only reason I would say not to is if you don't care about Windows or the webcam, and you intend on upgrading the SSD and ram anyway. I guess I should have stated that differently about the $20 thing, it would be a refurb from Dell. Is that a good deal in that case? I would defiantly stick with XP unless it was dog slow. |

The $20 would be worth it to me. XP runs fine on the Mini. Mini 9|2GB RAM|64GB RunCore|Intel 5300|Windows 8 |

I just saw that Sams Club has the dell mini with XP, 1GB ram, and 8GB SSD for $245.99 now to find somebody who has a member ship. |

I would definitely go with the refurb but I am weird like that. To me its like a year old car, someone else has broken it in and found any problems and now you can just play and have fun! I just picked up a 1gb RAM, 8GB SSD, 1.3 web cam for $299 at Best Buy's web site (Alpine White only), so $249 is a good deal. |

I heard the ones at Sams Club are taking a month to come in, So I'm thinking I'll go get one at my local Best Buy when I save up enough money. I was there yesterday and they had one on display so I got to play with one. |
