Default Video editing - 02-11-2009, 08:46 PM

Well I was planning on making videos pretty soon on youtube and I'm looking for a mobile pc to do it.
Can the Dell mini 9 create HD? (even though I heard it can't play it very well)

And how long do you suppose it would take to compile a 5 min video?

I encode non-HD video on my desktop every week, and I wouldn't even BEGIN to think of doing it on my Mini 9.

Time is really just a curiousity, waiting isn't an issue for me since I used to edit clips on a desktop that was made around 1996.
But you think it can be done? or no?

Probably can be done, but modern editing software might assume some hardware support that isn't there. I've also seen some programs refuse to install on a 1024x600 screen.

An AGP or PCI Express graphics card compatible with Quartz Extreme; or an Intel GMA integrated graphics... I don't believe the dell mini 9 has it.

Either way I'll find a way to make it work... even if I have to use Windows Movie Maker. :|
(I'm really getting bored of windows)

yeah that's actually what I was hoping to do.
I guess I'll try a little bit of everything, starting with OSX.

Well I'll be the lab rat I guess...
(Even if I have to use Microsoft I'll still probably get the mini)

The Mini has Intel GMA950 graphics, though there are some people who believe that Dell has revised the design to use the GMA500 chipset which has many complaints. But Dell's US site says 950 still.

iMovie wont do it - it's looking for a Core2 processor and fails to start when trying it on a Mini9 Hackintosh. Or so I've heard. Anyone else care to comment?
