Default webcam - 02-06-2009, 08:21 PM

Sorry if you have covered this. I have a recently purchased Dell Mini 9 - refurbished. It is in great shape running XP.
It came with the 1.3 camera. For some reason, the webcam software does not see it and it will not start. It doesn't matter what software I use, the camera is not found. Are there any solutions to this?

Thanks!

do you have the drivers for it installed? if not (i dont have the webcam so i cant check for you), try installing the webcam drivers from the dell site..i'm guessing it's a creative webcam?

check your device manager to make sure you have the webcam listed as well as no yellow triangles..

It is listed with not yellow triangles but it still isn't working.
I did notice that there are 2 Base System Device items with triangles.

Haven't figured out if this is related or not.

Thanks

hmm..those would probably be the jmicron drivers (found under the chipset section of the mini drivers on dell's website). it wouldnt hurt to give that a shot. install those..see if it does anything. if that still doesnt work, have you tried removing the current camera drivers, rebooting, and letting your os reinstall it? maybe somehow the drivers got corrupted :/ i dont think it'd hurt to try that either, after all..your camera aint even work as it is now
