Default OS Question - 02-03-2009, 03:19 PM

Hello everyone... I am new here and just wanted to introduce myself and ask a quick question.

I am planning on purchasing a Dell Mini 9 and wanted to confirm that if I buy one with Linux that I can install my own copy of Win XP Pro proving that I get the proper drivers from the Dell website. Would this be correct?

Thanks everyone and I look forward to being a part of the community!!

That is just what kind of people we like around here. People that search first. Thanks

If you are still unsure after that just ask away.

just keep in mind that the mini9 doesnt come with a dvd drive so you'll need to either have a usb one handy, or you'll need to have a usb jump drive set to boot up xp.

So I can copy the entire Win XP Pro CD to a Jump Drive and install it from that? I have a 4 GIG Jump Drive sitting right here. That would be very cool if it can be done.

You can't simply copy, as that won't make the Jump Drive bootable. There are instructions somewhere for how to make it bootable.
