Well I think I have solved the mystery. My mini already had the correct battery meter installed on it. So when I tried to install it again, by downloading the .exe file and running it, the InstallShield process decided that I must want to remove it which it did. If I then ran the downloaded file again I got my battery monitor back again! I should have left well alone in the first place. Thanks for the advice guys. It shows that operator error can always beat technical know-how.
