You need a retail disc. You don't need a Mac.

Hmm, I was trying to follow OS X 10.6.3 Retail DVD-->USB no MAC; A GUIDE, but the links to the NBI img are dead. Does anyone have a good download link?

But those are all the .app.zip files; where are the .img.zip files? Or better yet, how do I convert the .app directories into an IMG file that I can burn to a disc? Or can I just copy the files directly to a FAT32 zip drive? /confused

I'm not sure. I suggest asking in the OS X section of the forum. Perhaps someone has a copy of the .img file you can have. I do see that a lot of the links in the old guides are dead.
