Default Keeps shutting down - 02-08-2011, 02:30 AM

I have been asked to try and fix a Dell mini 9 because it keeps shutting down On it's own. When I got it I noticed it can't be used unless it's plugged in to mains and also when you turn it on it comes with a message asking what operating system you want to use, xp or USB recovery, then, once clicked xp it gose in to check c; drive for a file. Once I let this finish I noticed it had turned itself of. I restarted it again and went through same steps till I got to disk check and I skip it which brought me to log in where, again, it shut down.

Does anyone know why this is happening? I will be able to fix the disk check by installing windows 7 from USB but I have tried this and it shuts down before I can finish the instalation. Can anyone help?
