just got my dell 1012. . .its cool and great i want upgrade my ram. . .


no idea what upgrade to buy.

The 1012 uses a single, normal-laptop sized DDR2 module (that means 200pin). Speed should be equal or better than PC2-5300/667MHz. Size should be 0.5GB-2GB.

Installing the RAM isn't hard. Search the forums/Internet for instructions with pics. Just be careful when moving the keyboard out of the way.

Great! Excellent news. I'll get a 2GB module and do it. Or should I have it done by someone else? Dell won't do it, I suppose
I'm a bit surprised, though: unqualified hands (as far as Dell is concerned) tampering with the system might void the warranty, I suppose ... I should read support fine printing, perhaps, ... or just get started
