Default Can I upgrade my processor? - 05-09-2010, 07:38 PM

Howdy all, I have owned an Inspiron Mini 1010 since last summer. I've been trying to add FM 2010, which needs a 1.40GHZ processor, whereas the 1010 has a 1.33GHZ processor, so obviously this hasn't worked.

What would anyone recommend? Is it possible to upgrade your processor? Any help would be gratefully received, many thanks

no, it would require replacing the daughterboard...the memory and processor are on the daughterboard together both soldered on..thats why the 1010's memory can not be upgraded...the daughterboard is very costly to replace..probably more than you paid for the Mini....if you had spent the extra money up front and gotten the z530 processor as opposed to the z520 you would be running at 1.6ghz instead of 1.3ghz...right now you don't really have many options..sorry to burst any bubbles....

PS. Welcome to the forum anyway.......

I thought that might be the case, at the time it seemed like enough but shlould have gone for the TV Tuner model in hindsight. Oh well, guess I'll have to go without!
Thanks for the response and the welcome!
