Question Mini 9 hard drive - 05-07-2010, 05:18 PM

I have a Mini 9 with a 16GB SSD and I was wondering if anybody makes a hard drive to replace it with yet? I appreciate the power savings of the SSD but it is starting to act up and 16GB is not much room these days, even for a on the go internet device. I have a regular full size laptop and a desktop for my daily needs, I just want a real hard drive again for this mini. Tired of the short falls of the SSD. Thanks for any information in advance and sorry if there is a thread on this already, I did a search first and didn't find anything.

You can't. The Mini 9 can use only a SSD in the MiniPCIe form factor. You can get up to 128GB, but the larger sizes are very expensive.

Offer it for sale in the For Sale section of this forum. If the SSD is failing, though, you'll need to price it "right".

Yeah I know, that's why I was hopeful that I could just upgrade. Probably not worth much this way.

Default Mini 9 SSD - 05-10-2010, 11:16 PM

You should be able to pick up a used 32gb SSD for about $75.00, Why do you say the SSD is failing? I only have a 8 gb SSD in my Mini, runnung JoliCloud for an OS, only takes about 2.5gb space, have about 4.6gb left. Or sell the mini 9 and pick up a mini 10, all those models accept a 2.5' SATA hard drive.
