Default Mini 10 owner - 04-27-2010, 11:45 AM

Hi I'm Chris from the UK, I've had a Mini 10 since last summer.

I can't remember the exact specs I think it is a 1.6 processor it has 1gb of RAM and a GMA500 and a 160gb HDD I also have the extended battery which gives me about 6-7 hours battery.

I had a few questions,

1 - It is funny with Pen Drives sometimes it doesn't want to recognise them and it flat out refuses to accept my 32gb pen drive (usb power limitation?)

2 - I'm Running XP and it has gona abit crappy I was considering wiping it and starting again and wonder what OS gives the best performance? I have tried ubuntu but couldn't get it to work properly.

3- Hardware/software upgrades, to get more performace out of it? I stumbled across this - Welcome! but is doesn't cover the GMA500.

Thanks

Chris

you could load Win7 either Pro or Ultimate, it seems to run faster on the Mini than XP, just keep Aero turned off

GMA booster wont work

did you try the pendrive in another system

Yep the pen drive works in every other PC I have ever tried I know sometimes if it goes into standby it doesn't like pen drives but a restart sorts that. But my 32gb one doesn't work full stop.

I have a 1gb a 4gb usb drives that work fine but not the 32.

I have win 7 on my main PC and like it so I might try it on my netbook.

Tried it in all of them before and still no joy,

It picks it up but it will keep dropping it again (you can here the windows new hardware/hardware unplugged noise) and when you try to open it freezes.
