Red face Farmville too SLOW - 04-17-2010, 02:05 AM

I bought a Dell Mini 10 with tv tuner and win 7 starter for my wife, however the game farmville is far too slow. Is there any way to speed it up? I see that the ram cannot be upgraded, any other options available besides sending back to Amazon for a 15% loss. thanks, rrw

Farmville is a Flash game, isn't it? (I have never played it.) You might try the beta version of Flash 10.1

and yes, updating to the very latest version of flash, helped, although I haven't tried the beta yet. We are using the Safari browser and I understand Firefox may help also..

Hi. I just got my mini from Amazon (w/tv tuner) and I also play Farmville. It was really slow for me too and so I did install the Flash 10.1 beta. It made a noticeable difference to me. Still not as good as my quad core desktop, but with the RAM limitation, it never will be. I can work with it like this. I'm using ie not firefox. So maybe try the beta and see what your wife thinks. I don't think if will render Cafeworld well at all -- I haven't even attempted that one. Please post up and let us know how you do.

Probably a good reason to just not play the game and go outside, lol. No really, I spent a fair amount of time playing farmville, so I know it's fun. Glad I stopped though as the extra time is nice, especially now that it's summer again I found the best way to get fast speeds is to restart, open your browser and go straight to farmville. Don't do anything else until you're ready to stop playing.

10.1 should be mandatory for these minis. Even Youtube is faster with it for me.

yeah, flash 10.1 helped a lot and she is now using Firefox, all is well with Farmville... Now, if we could just get the tv tuner to pick up a few stations! rrw
