Unhappy Starting over, please help. - 02-26-2010, 06:50 PM

I currently have a Mini 10 which travels with me around the world, thank you Army.

I would like to upgrade it (hardware and software) to do the following tasks:

Surf the Internet
Chat on Yahoo
Watch TV shows on Hulu
View jpgs

It has all the pre-installed software like Windows XP and McAfee from when I purchased it in MAY 09 in Yakima.

Would someone please send me a detailed laundry list for both hardware and software upgrades?
Thanks

Not a whole lot of hardware upgrades you can do; if you have a G wifi card a N or g+ would improve your reception; a larger hard drive would be nice (but 160 is pretty good size), a few SD/hc cards would be nice for trying other OS's and experimenting.

In software dump McAfee right away and use Avira or AVG, they use alot less resources. Make sure you have the latest driver for GMA 500 and Hulu will play just fine. Yahoo's chat software works fine on the Mini and you can use it with the web cam with a little work.

Most productivity software works just fine on the mini. While the company I work for offered to give me Microsoft Office for my mini I elected to stay with Open Office and have had no problems jumping between the two.
All browsers run just fine on the mini; but I use Firefox and Opera the most. Opera is very lean on resources. fdalbor
