Default Hello,new here, have a dumb question. - 02-20-2010, 01:49 PM

Hello, I bought my new Dell mini 10 to do a Hackintosh, but made mistake and bought mini 1012. Now my question is how do I change the display picture? I go to control panel, try to right click on the desktop... nothing works. I am running windows 7 starter. Thanks.

Microsoft cripples Windows 7 Starter in several ways. One thing they cripple is the ability to change wallpaper. You can check Google for a way around that restriction: Google

Mini 9 | Intel 5100 Wifi | Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook
Mini 1012 | SSD | Intel 6200 Wifi | Ubuntu 11.10 64bit

Really makes you wonder what they think people will think when they boot up their 7 Starter system and realize there are so many limits on what you can do with it.

I am sticking with XP sp3 until they do some service pacs for 7. Even then I will probably only use it in a duel boot system or triple boot it with XP, 9.04 and a version of 7. A later version of 7.

I have so much time and effort invested in XP (not just at home; but in our work systems) I don't see it being left out in the cold any time soon. A lot of very big companies POS systems use embeded XP and don't plan on changing any to 7. fdalbor
