Default Got Mini 9 for my wifey~! - 12-22-2008, 08:09 PM

Hello everyone.

I am glad to find this forum dedicated to Dell's Mini laptops.

I got my wife a Mini 9 since all her computer usage centers around email, browsing, Youtube, Quicken, and some MS Office stuff... So having a portable computer such as Mini 9 sounded like a perfect choice. Also, I decided to go for Dell's product although it's a bit more expensive than competitors' price since they are known for their service.

I look forward to learn more from this little community

to start off, I do have a small question.

Has anyone find any after market power adaptor for Mini 9? I searched the forum but wasn't able to find any concrete lead.

Thanks for all your help!

I believe Kensington makes one - check this thread: kensington-and-igo-tips-for-the-mini-t1332.html Hope this helps!

Kensington does indeed have adapters with "tips" that will fit the Mini. I do not recommend it, though - the tip is a poor fit and could damage the jack on the Mini over time. Also, the Kensington adapter is quite large.

Personally, I'd go for the Dell adapter with a plug that fits right, including the ring that fits into the case recess to prevent twisting.

So...

this issue comes back to just going with overpriced Dell's power adaptor eh?

I was hoping there are some cheap alternatives...

And Kensington's sounds a bit fishy with a lot of people complaining about the quality of the product...

I have no issue with the quality - but Kensington's tips are designed to fit multiple products and are not made specifically for the Mini. Kensington has a tip that will fit and work, but it is not as secure a fit as the Dell adapter.
