Default 1010 Brightness Keys on Ubuntu Netbook Remix - 01-24-2010, 07:44 PM

Hi all,

The brightness keys on my 1010 do not work while running Ubuntu Netbook Remix (9.10). I seem to be always running at full brightness.

I've done some hunting around and haven't found any definitive solutions. Has anyone here had success?

Check that you can set the brightness manually. Run "xrandr --prop" in a terminal. You should get a couple lines of output, including something like this:
	BACKLIGHT: 15 (0x0000000f)	range: (0,15)
Then set the brightness manually with a command like
xrandr --output LVDS --set BRIGHTNESS 7
If these commands don't work, the keys can never work. Missing features may be due to using the "safe mode" video driver for the GMA500 graphics. You'll need to look into installing the "poulsbo" driver.
