Yes, that is the WWAN modem card for use with AT&T. If you have an existing account with them, just take out your SIM card from your existing device (like a USB dongle) and put it in the Mini 9 SIM slot. You are now good to go with broadband on the Mini 9. If you do not have an account, sign up and enjoy the rebate with a 2yr contract.

thanks Scott, but does that replace the WIFI card? i know that there are two slots in the inside of the mini that has the WIFI and the other slot is empty.

No, it uses the slot labelled WWAN, which in most Mini 9's is empty, and doesn't have a PCIe connector soldered down for it. If you ordered this version, paying the extra cost, you would also get a mini 9 with a WWAN connector which you could use for other PCIe WWAN cards for other carriers in the future, and potentially other purposes. Which is always worth something.

What you pay the $125 for is the card but it's up to you whether or not you activate it with AT&T to get the $120 rebate. That's what irritated me so much about Dell not putting the slot and antenna in all of them. It must not cost much over the $5 difference yet most of us don't get the option of having it.

yeah, but that's what it would look like right? thanks for the replies but i really need to know that answer if yes or no when i buy another mini 9 for my brother's christmas gift

Yes, if you purchase one with the attached WWAN card, that is where it would go. It would not look like that, but only because there would be a card there, and the antenna cables would be attached to it.
