Default installing xp using usb - 11-04-2009, 09:39 PM

i refer to this guide on installing windows xp from a USB drive since I want to have a fresh install of genuine XP without the additional softwares that came preinstalled.

So does the usb method in the guide work for the windows xp found in Dell's Operating System Restore CD or is it only for retail version of windows XP?

It would be great if i can reinstall plain simple XP using the Dell's OEM version i already have without having to get a retail version.

No - the Dell restore CD isn't an "install", it's "restore a disk image". However, I suppose you could copy the contents to a USB key and make it bootable.
