Default Boot Mac OS from 8 GB SD card - 09-08-2009, 08:31 AM

Hello, recently bought dell mini 9 with 8 GB SSD.
My goal is to install MAC OS X and for that rfeason I purchased 16 GB SSD.
Unfortunatelly I don't have external DVD drive and I decided to buy memory card.
Here the question is will I be able to install the Mac OS from this external SD card.
I read some posts and people say it is impossible to boot from the internal card reader, but will it work if I use external USB card reader?

Thanks in advance

The Mini 9 will boot from a USB card reader (doesn't matter what kind of card you use). I'll have to let someone else say if Mac OS will be happy with that arrangement.

The Mini 9 can boot just fine off a USB card reader. I use a 4GB microSD card for my Windows 7 installer. Just treat the card and reader like any other flash drive.

Yes - but will OS X boot from a USB drive? Windows doesn't like to, except in a "PE" environment.

OS X should be able to boot from a USB drive. I've been able to install OS X from a USB drive with the OS X install disc on there.
