Default Base System Devices ??? - 09-02-2009, 10:56 AM

Hi,

I'm new here. I got my Dell Mini 9 yesterday. It's running Windows 7. I got 2 devices called "Base System Device" with unknown drivers...

I did some searching and have installed the "Dell Battery Meter/Wireless Select Switch",
"JMicron JMB385", "Dell Touchpad drivers" but still nothing has fixed it. They are still there. Please someone look at the attached pic and tell me what I'm missing

Thanks!

Those base system devices are supposed to be the card reader. Windows 7 can use the SD portion of it, but needs the drivers to use the MMC and MS parts of it. Are you sure you installed the correct JMicron card drivers?

I tried the link for the Inspiron Mini 12 (1210) for Vista 32-bit.

Drivers & Downloads

ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/chipset/R200081.EXE

Is that the correct one?

Try this one:
ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb38x/X...00.32_WHQL.zip

It's from the manufacturer's website, and has been updated for Windows 7. I'm not positive that the Mini 12 and 9 share the same reader chipset.

I have a similar question. 10v, Windows 7 Pro RTM, clean install. Under Device Manager, "Other Devices" I only have an entry for "Unknown Device".

In the Control Panel, Devices & Printers, there's a yellow exclamation point for the 10v itself. When I right click on it and "Troubleshoot" it searches and after "checking for missing driver" I get "Unknown device doesn't have a driver".

Any idea what the device is?
