Default Aw... come on - SD card does not go all the way in ?? - 09-01-2009, 08:23 PM

I was so disappointed to find out that teh SD card slot on my Mini 10 is not deep enpugh for all of the SD card to sit inside that slot... half of the card stays out... boo hoooo hoooo..

I was hoping to add 16 GB to my 32 GB SSD via the SD card but sounds like no dice here...

are theer any SD-ish cards available that will fit in 100% ??

No - this is apparently a new "design trend" - a new Samsung netbook does the same thing. Very annoying, I agree - glad my Mini 9 doesn't have that "feature".

Only if Mini 9 came in HD screen I would be willing to sell my Mini 10 and get a 9...

Seriously.. it's a step backwards IMHO...

A RS-MMC may fit flush, but they're rare, low capacity, and I'm not sure if they'll work in the reader.

the Mini 12 has this aswell.

The mini 9's "click-in" card slot is awesome, no obtrusion and I can leave it in there forever and forget about it.

I think that you will get more netbooks that have this 'feature' in the future. Gen-1 and Gen-2 netbooks (Eee PC 4G, Eee 901/Dell Mini 9) needed to have a flush SD card slot since the idea was that you would just buy a 32GB SDHC when needed for storage (the AA1 went further, having two slots, one for all kinds and one for permanent storage). Since netbooks have cheap, upgradable HDDs now, it is not as needed.

Not if we buy SSD... which my Mini 10 has... but you are right, those with 160 GB ones won't care... but for me I was hoping to double my 32GB SSD with a 32 GB SD card... but no dice

Wow! Crappy design!! I'm so glad that this forum is here to tell the truth and give factual information in places otherwise barren of specs.

Crazy. Ditto too on having a Mini 9 with it not sticking out. I'm so not getting a 10/12
