Default Cant Decide 9 vs 10v. Help! - 08-25-2009, 02:39 PM

Hey guys.

I cant decide if i should get the mini 9 or the 10v. I want to do iphone development on it as well as the usual imfanetting and remote desktop and the like.

ive seen the mini 9, and know that it works really well, but my hang up is the keyboard.

any advise?

also, if i go with the 10v how should it be specced? i see a couple different processor options, as well as the regular hd vs the sshd ?

If you need to use it for extended periods of time, get the 10v.

I love my Mini 9, but I don't use it as my primary machine. It gets pulled out and used in situations for occasional use. If I use it for more than an hour, it's only because I'm relying on my bookmarks in Firefox and a mouse to get me around.

If you're going to be doing development work, I think the 10v is the answer.

I would put a vote in for the 10v... having used both I prefer the Mini 10v over the Mini 9

1. Keyboard (much nicer to type on than the Mini 9)
2. Option between SSD and HDD (uses SATA, which is nice)
3. Screen is larger (although same resolution as Mini 9)

Things about the Mini 9 I liked better :

1. Easier to upgrade RAM to 2Gb
2. Trackpad driver for OSX was much better. The trackpad on the 10v still needs some work

Overall, I would recommend the 10v. I love mine and it runs OSX 10.5.8 like a dream. The Mini 9 is a great little machine also, but I enjoy the keyboard and screen on my 10v better.

The keyboard is the key for me. Mini 10v all the way.
