Default Question about the Mini10 my school is selling - 08-25-2009, 01:59 AM

I'd like to go get one of these from my colleges computer store (University of South Florida) but I had a few questions about it.

http://ucspos.ucs.usf.edu/usfdept/Forms/Mini10.htm

Here is the version they have in stock right now. (I know you can get it slightly cheaper from Dell through the Student store, but I have some advanced financial aid I can use this week and just get one now instead of waiting a month)

Is the 1011 in fact the Mini 10v? I'd like to be able to upgrade the ram eventually and install OSX on it.

It is only the 576 screen, but I don't think that will be very noticeable (really wish the HD screen was an option on the V) Also only has a 3-cell battery, but thats something you can easily just buy an upgrade and swap out for.

Just want to make sure I'll be able to use OSX on it really before I commit to picking one up.

The linked Mini is a 10v (assuming the description is correct).

Mini 9 | Intel 5100 Wifi | Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook
Mini 1012 | SSD | Intel 6200 Wifi | Ubuntu 11.10 64bit

1011 = 10v You can get those same specs from the Dell Outlet for around $249, or less than that when coupons are available. Adding RAM to the 10v is not trivial. Be sure to read the guides if this important to you. You basically have to take the entire netbook apart and then put it back together again.

Oh, I know, I've taken laptops apart for similar reasons before. Not a huge deal.

Ended up snagging one off the outlet with a 6-cell and 1024x600 screen with a white case for 275 after the coupon with tax.
