Default Just ordered refurbed 10v - any advice/tips? - 08-13-2009, 08:09 PM

I got the 15% coupon today and decided to get a 10v. I wanted it for email, surfing, hulu, and the occasional ripped DVD. Hope I made the right choice!

Any tips on how to make things run smooth and seemlessly? I only have an intermediate understanding of all things computers, but would someone like me be able to load OS X on this?

How are the video play back on these? Again, I'm interested in using it for hulu and whatever tv feeds I can find, as well as the occasional ripped DVD. Any tips on doing this stuff smoothly would be very helpful.

Nobody has any tips for me? Oh well, I'm still looking forward to getting my 10v.

I have a Mini 9, which has alot of the same hardware. So, I'll share some opinions/advise.

Your 10v should do fine for web browsing and email. I've tweaked Firefox to reduce disk I/O, since I have a slow SSD. And I like to use fullscreen mode when web browsing.

I dunno much about OSX/Hackintosh issues, so I can't advise you there.

There are complaints about Flash video playback on the Atom CPU (Flash video is most videos in webpages). But DVD rips should play well with normal software and settings.
