Talking Cannot access Internet with Firefox (was Need help!!!!) - 07-21-2009, 03:45 PM

Im new here and was wondering if someone can help me out. I got a mini 10 and have both Firefox and Safari, but they will not connect to the internet. The only one that connects is internet explorer. I have changed the settings to allow Safari and Firefox as my default browser and nothing happens. I can only use the internet explorer as my web browser....any help would be greatly appriciated....thanx chris

Does Internet Explorer need a proxy server enabled to get out? Tools > Options > Internet Settings > LAN Settings. (This may vary by IE version.) If so, you need to replicate those options in Firefox/Safari.

I will also ask that you choose a more descriptive thread title than "Need help!!!" in your future posts.

Are you running a firewall application? If so, does disabling it change things?

Try this. Start > Run. Type in CMD and click OK. In the window that opens, type:

ping www.mydellmini.com

what do you see?

What error do you get from Firefox? In Firefox, select Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Advanced > Settings. What is set there, if anything?

What Operating System are you using?

Is this on a Mini 9, 10, 10v or 12?

Can you post a screenshot of the actual error message you get from Firefox when you replicate this problem?

I would set "No Proxy". Exit Firefox and then restart.

Safari can’t connect to the server.
Safari can’t open the page “http://www.apple.com/startpage/” because Safari can’t connect to the server
