Default Mini 9 x Voice calls - 06-28-2009, 08:14 PM

hi all, i just bought a mini9 dell, 16gb ssd, bluetooth and wwlan, and so far, its amazing machine, im running winxp home but probably i´ll try macos, windows7 and linux. my question is, not necessarilly mini9 related, but is it possible to talk, make and receive voice calls using wwlan 3g (with normal SIM card), not just data connection but voice connection, is there any software for it?

thank you,
marcello

The data part = a contract with whoever setup the WWLAN, yes? AT$T or T$Mobile in the U.S. Verizon and Sprint do not use SIM cards.

Voice part? Use Skype, Magic Jack, or any other VOIP client.

Kevin,

Im from Brazil i know about data part, my question is it possible to make/receive calls like a phone?, not using VOIP, but a "real" client, anyway, some friends tell me that i cant receive/make "real" calls using 3g modem, the modem doesnt have this kind of capability.

thanks anyway,
marcello

Hi Marcello!

I would say your friends are correct. I think the 3G modem's functionality is not quite what you're looking for.

I would love to visit Brazil one day!

Cheers!
