Default Enabling WWAN - 12-28-2008, 08:00 PM

I just received a refurbed Mini, fully loaded with WWAN (USA). Is there something that needs to be done to enable the WWAN card?

Noob here, and a search is coming up blank. Device manager isn't showing anything that looks like a WWAN adapter.

What is the name on the WWAN card?

It should work fine. You may need the driver since this not standard issue for refurbished minis.

Does it have a card in it? Because the refurbs come with the slot but not the cards

Which OS? Assuming windoz you need to download the Ericsson Communication Manager from dell. Be sure to pick "other drivers" as you will get the vodafone which won't work on ATT or Tmobile. I have not found another way to enable the radio without using this software. I do not know the impact on the battery life if you leave the radio on permanently, so this software turns the radio on and off when it comes up. Note the wifi/bluetooth radio utility have no affect on the WWAN card.

That's good info. I'll install the drivers tonight and see what happens. I didn't check to see if a WWAN card was installed in the port. I didn't know much about WWAN, but after doing a lot of research, I see it requires a physical card from the WWAN provider. I'll see if anything is in there.

The sim card slot is behind the battery.
